    Pick of the Week
Marc Evans' touching Snow Cake opens this weekend. It follows an ex-convict (Alan Rickman) who gets into a car accident that kills the teenage hitchhiker he picked up. When he goes to see the mother (Sigourney Weaver) of the teen, he learns she is autistic and decides to stay and help plan the funeral. Rickman and Weaver give amazing performances as two people who for different reasons struggle to get through life but after meeting each other find it easier to get by. On DVD is Tears of the Black Tiger, one of the most elaborate productions ever mounted in Thailand. This colorful Western by Wisit Sasanatieng (that’s sure to become a cult favorite) is as much a parody as it is an homage.
